  1. ++++ About So To Speak

  3. So To Speak is an application built in Serius Workshop which uses 
  4. Apple's new Speech Manager (aka. MacInTalk II, MacInTalk Pro, 
  5. PlainTalk, and Gala Tea. Geez!) To use So To Speak, you need version
  6. 1.0.b5 or later of the Speech Manager.

  8. So To Speak implements many (and soon all) of the functions of the Speech Manager. With So To Speak you can have mulitple voices speaking at the same time, choose the voice to use from a pop-up menu listing all the available voices, vary the pitch and rate of the voices as they are speaking, pause and stop the speaking immediately, at the end of the current word, or at the end of the current sentence, and continue paused speech.

  10. Features at various stages of implementation in So To Speak:
  11.     + convert text to its phonemic representation
  12.     + modify the converted text in any way you want
  13.     + speak phonemic text
  14.     + install your own dictionaries
  15.     + save the speech to a 'snd ' (or some other format) file
  16.     + turn emphasis on and off
  17.     + preflight text
  18.     + etc, etc.

  23. This program is Postcard-ware, which means if you use it, and you'd like me to write more useful things, then you should send me a postcard. If you feel the desire to send me money, great, but I really do enjoy getting up at 4:00am to work on this :-).
